Welcome

Sheffield Music Makers entertaining Christmas shoppers in Sheffield Winter Garden, December 2024.

Welcome to the website of Sheffield Music Makers, one of the city’s oldest established choirs (founded in 1968 as Sheffield Teachers’ Choir).

After a busy and joyful festive period where we sang to appreciative audiences at Bents Green Methodist Church and Sheffield Winter Garden, we are now rehearsing for our Easter concert at Oughtibridge Chapel on Saturday, 12 April at 7pm.

We will be singing Choral Classics from Mozart to Britten to Faure and the concert will also feature two young soloists, so there should be something to suit every musical taste.

The choir, led by musical director Georgina Hulse with organ accompaniment from Graham Wilkinson, is particularly looking forward to performing again at Oughtibridge Chapel, as this will be our first opportunity to sing in this beautiful venue since it was refurbished last year.

We rehearse every Thursday evening during school term times at St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane, Sheffield between 7pm and 9pm and new singers are always welcome. Whether you used to be in a choir and want to re-engage, or you have never sung in a choir but always wanted to, now is the perfect time for new members to join us.

There are no auditions, all sheet music is provided, sight reading is not essential, and the first term is free. So, what are you waiting for? Come along and join us soon. See our joining page for more information on joining the choir.
